My name's Nicholas Dill and I'm the creator of Testsuite.io.
I work as a senior software engineer and technical lead by day. But I focus on writing, entrepreneurship, and helping others in my off-hours. I started my first company in High School, growing and managing Minecraft servers. That evolved into an app development company.
Today I focus primarily on writing, teaching, and mentoring others who are interested in software development and business.
I honestly believe programming is one of the most valuable and in-demand skills anyone can have.
Here are some stats to get you excited.
In 2019, the US had 1.4 million job openings for software developers.
In 2020, that number grew to over 1.8 million.
And the median salary? Over $110k. Plus, most developers get equity too.
Job growth exceeded 22%. That's absurdly high... 🤯
Here's the source.
I went to a decent school, but I didn't graduate with a degree in Computer Science.
I took a few CS courses, but I focused on my education, not my grades.
Rather than limiting myself to the classes offered, I learned what interested me. I released mobile apps, built websites, and got real-world experience by starting multiple businesses (as a full-time student). With my portfolio, I was able to line up an amazing job before I graduated.
You see, anyone can become a great developer.
And you don't have to have a degree!
I'm building this community to try and help others discover programming.
If I've piqued your interest, I want you to know I'm serious about helping people. If you ever have questions or need advice, you can come to me. I'm usually active on Twitter, if you want to follow me.
